My alphapets zine is finished !

I've finally finished my zine called ALPHAPETS. The animal alphabet it's available on etsy for £3 !

Making my zine ...

I've been making a little zine for quite a while now, it's an alphabet zine with an animal theme. All of the animals have each had a hand selected hat that suits their personality !

Below are the pictures throughout the making process and also the final zine which you can now purchase from my etsy shop at the small cost of £3.00 !

Lomography actionsampler...

I've had a lomography actionsampler for a while now and have taken a few photos with it but still had the film left in the camera, and as I'm starting uni in Brighton in September they asked me to do a project about motion and it sprung to mind that I could use my camera. I wasn't expecting much because the film was so old I was dubious that it would develop properly but I got these photos anyway and I'm surprised and pleased how they turned out !

New items- Wood Warbler...

Today I sent my little blue tit cushion away to someone who purchased it on my etsy shop so I made a new little bird to replace him ...

a wood warbler !

here are a few pictures of him around the house and hiding in the drawers because he has a lovely scent !

Facial Topiary...

I love a bit on antique shopping and whilst perusing the shelves at my local antiques centre I found these bearded men and gave their facial hair a bit of a trim giving a new meaning to facial topiary...

I may make these into a zine so watch my etsy shop !

Hand Stitching...

Recently I've been doing a bit of hand stitch mainly because I have more time on my hands so I can afford to take my time over things. This week I've been sewing a cushion with a flower motif using hand stitch embroidery and also French knots. Progress has been quite slow but I'm happy with it, I plan on making it into a little scatter cushion and using piping round the edge to finish it off.

Since finishing college in Camberwell for the summer I decided to earn some more money ready for going to university in Brighton. I thought about doing some more cushions so I posted some of the bird ones I made last summer on my etsy... http://www.etsy.com/shop/BeciMay?ref=si_shop. Here are the pictures of my blue tit cushions, I'm going to make some more things in my time off aswell so keep checking !...

Hanging our final show...

So after I completed my project with just a few days to spare it was time to hang the show. I knew from the start that I wanted to have my cushion on a shelf but I didn't really know how to show the concept behind my project.

I decided on using photographs of the cushion in use and combined with the background environment to show where the idea for the pattern came from. My initial presentation ideas were to use the big photographs...

I liked how they look but I thought they were maybe a bit too big, they aren't eye level which makes it difficult to look at from close up. I then thought about using the small photos horiszontally...

I eventually decided because the cushion is horizontal to have horizontal cushions looks a bit strange. So finally I decided on having the small photos vertically...

Overall I am pleased with the outcome I think it turned out as well as it could have done. Here are some more snaps of us just putting up the show...
